I lived in Peking, a city owning a long history. On the one hand, when I walked along some street, the everlasting ghost of ancient civilization lingered around me. On the other hand everything was imprisoned by a new age.
Modern culture comes from Europe and America, my homeland’s convention struggles with those new things. Any battle got a winner. And obviously, there is not a strong enough power to end the battle.
Shanghai is a perfectly modern metropolitan, for it have not that much heritage from old empire. But Peking did, and it can’t just shake it off as snow. Herits are glory of old age, if anyone improve it in its own conventional way.
However, revolutionary movement in city-constructing made the glory into the body of chinese giant.
Things need a change.
I’ll appreciate correction on my words from anyone.
